Vinyl covers a family of products, from flexible sheet and glue-down planks to click-together boards. What they share is a resilient, water-resistant surface that can imitate timber, stone or concrete. Compared with ceramic tile, vinyl feels warmer and softer underfoot and is often quicker to install, which makes it popular for rental refreshes, bedrooms and apartment renovations where timing matters.
The floor underneath is the foundation of a good result. Vinyl is thin enough to reveal bumps, ridges and old adhesive, so the subfloor is checked for flatness, dryness and cleanliness before anything is laid. Screeding or levelling may be recommended. Expansion allowance, door thresholds and transitions to other floor types are planned in advance so the finished edges look neat.
Vinyl is not suited to every situation. Persistent moisture from the slab, heavy point loads from some furniture, and strong direct sunlight through large glazing can all affect certain products. We will talk through how the room is used and give honest advice, including when tile, laminate or a different vinyl type would suit better.

Many products suit wet-adjacent rooms when installed with care. We will recommend appropriate types and edge sealing for areas that see regular water.
Interior vinyl is generally fine in air-conditioned rooms. Very strong direct sun through glazing can affect some products, so tell us about the room.
It varies with floor size, preparation needs and layout. We give a realistic schedule after assessing the space.
For rented properties, check with your landlord or building management before replacing flooring. We can describe the method and materials for them.
Sweep or vacuum regularly and mop with a mild cleaner and a well-wrung mop. Avoid abrasive tools and excess water.
