A fan is a moving load, so the fixing matters more than for a static light. The ceiling is checked to decide how the fan can be supported, and a proper bracket or support to the structural slab may be needed, especially where a gypsum false ceiling hangs below. A fan should never rely on a light-fitting box alone.
Positioning follows practical rules. Blades need adequate clearance from walls, beams and the floor, and the fan should sit where air movement is useful rather than blocked by furniture. Controls can be a wall switch, a regulator or a remote, and the right choice depends on the model and how you want to operate it.
Installation suits new purchases, replacements of noisy or wobbling fans and conversions from light fittings. Very low or sloped ceilings may call for flush-mounted models, and some rooms are better served by other ventilation. These points are discussed before any fixing begins.
