Basin Installation

Support is the first concern. Wall-hung basins need secure fixings into a sound wall or backing, countertop basins rely on a suitably cut surface and vanity units need levelling. Wall type, such as block, gypsum or tiled partition, is checked first because it determines which fixings are safe and how the basin can be mounted.

The waste and trap are just as important. The height and position of the outlet influence the neatness of the finished installation, and a mismatched trap can lead to slow drainage or odours. Tap type and the number of tap holes should be agreed beforehand so the basin and fittings suit each other.

This service suits replacements, bathroom refits and vanity upgrades. If a basin is simply chipped or stained, replacement is usually the answer, while a leaking connection can often be corrected without changing the basin. Fixing into thin partitions may need a reinforcement to be discussed before installation.
